This practical, one-day workshop led by Professor Shane Pill invites PE teachers from across Elementary, Middle, and High School to think about curriculum content as key concepts structured through a thematic curriculum design. Concept-based PE has been found to be more likely than conventional PE to promote out-of-school physical activity and to build the habit of mind to be active into the future.

Agency in Action is an immersive workshop for educators who want to deepen their understanding of how student agency can be fostered in meaningful and practical ways. Participants will observe a live lesson and engage in guided reflection and analysis to explore the teaching moves and learning conditions that make student agency visible in practice.

This session explores the experiences of third culture students, young people who grow up between multiple cultures, and how their diverse understandings of masculinity and femininity shape participation in PE.
