Ben Holden
Ben Holden is a highly experienced educator, author, and physical education leader, widely recognised for his work in developing outstanding PE teachers and high-quality school programmes. Based in the North East of England, Ben spent over 15 years as a Head of Physical Education in a large secondary school, where he combined day-to-day teaching with strategic leadership responsibilities. He holds a BA in Sports Studies and Physical Education from York St John University, a PGCE from Durham University, and the National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership (NPQSL). Alongside his school leadership career, Ben has supported trainee teachers as a university mentor and currently serves as Chair of the International School Sports Federation Physical Education Committee. Ben is the founder of Wanna Teach PE, a global professional development platform that delivers high-impact training for teachers, leaders, and organisations. Through keynote speaking, workshops, and online learning, Ben has worked with schools and educators across more than 15 countries, sharing practical, research-informed strategies that can be applied immediately to improve PE provision. His delivery is known for being energetic, honest, and grounded in real classroom experience. In 2022, Ben authored the best-selling book Wanna Teach PE?, an A to Z guide designed to support aspiring and early-career physical education teachers by offering practical advice, reassurance, and clarity about the profession. Building on this success, Ben is currently preparing for the launch of his second book, Wanna Lead PE, which focuses on leadership, curriculum design, and long-term development within physical education. Through writing, speaking, and mentoring, Ben continues to advocate for meaningful, inclusive, and impactful PE experiences for all young people.
