Author of Time to RISE Up - Supporting Students’ Mental Health in Schools, Founder of Future Action

I am the author of ‘Time to RISE Up - Supporting Students’ Mental Health in Schools’, a highly-rated book offering practical strategies to prioritize student mental wellbeing and holistic development. As the founding director of Future Action, I am dedicated to empowering educators to transform children’s mental wellbeing and life chances. Previously, I served as a Director of Sport, Health, and RSHE in the UK, where I developed a history of transforming PE departments, creating meaningful PE experiences, and embedding health and wellbeing across schools. My work focuses on creating trauma-informed environments and early intervention strategies, combining practical approaches with evidence-based theories such as Polyvagal Theory, Dr. Bruce Perry's Neurosequential Model, and Dr. Dan Hughes’ PACE Model. Since lockdown, I’ve collaborated with over 250 schools globally, offering bespoke training, consultancy, and programmes like RISE Up and Trauma-Informed PE. I am also a PhD student at Bath Spa University and an international conference speaker, frequently presenting on topics related to wellbeing and education. My work includes leading initiatives such as the Liverpool RISE Up programme, which achieved a 39% improvement in teachers’ perceptions of student wellbeing, and the Norfolk RISE Up transition pilot, supporting key school transitions. I developed the RISE acronym (Repeaters, Inclusive Teams, Stress Busters, Energisers) to provide practical tools for regulation, safety, and belonging, which is a cornerstone of my programmes.
