This November, we are partnering with BWF to bring the Shuttle Time Teachers Certification to all main conference attendees!

This special program offers you the opportunity to earn an international teaching certification through practical, hands-on sessions led by BWF-certified trainers. Whether you’re looking to enhance your coaching skills or simply want to learn more about teaching badminton, these sessions are designed for educators of all experience levels.

BWF Shuttle Time Teacher Programme

About The Program

The Shuttle Time program equips teachers with the tools and resources to introduce badminton in schools in a fun, safe, and engaging way.

The aim of Shuttle Time Teachers course are:

  • assist teachers to plan and deliver safe, fun, and inclusive badminton lessons;
  • ensure that all children can experience success in badminton;
  • achieve general physical education objectives through the badminton activities;
  • enable teachers to deliver a positive image and experience of badminton.
  • covers badminton techniques, tactics and physical elements.
  • enable children will experience the nature of badminton, without over complicating the
  • content for teachers or children who are new to badminton.

During the conference:

  • Sessions will focus on practical delivery with guidance from two expert tutors.
  • Delegates must attend all six sessions to achieve the internationally certified BWF Shuttle Time Teacher certificate.
  • Delegates may also join individual sessions at PHASE and choose to complete the certification directly with BWF post-conference.
  • Each session is capped at 40 participants. Pre-registration required.

PHASE Day 1 | Saturday, 15 November 2025 

Session 1: Intro & Group Management | | 11:20 AM – 12:20 PM
Program introduction, essential equipment, group management, and agility warm-ups.

Session 2: Basics & Feeding Skills | 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM
Basic grip, movement, and feeding techniques with/without a racket.

Session 3: Skills & Technique (Part 1) | 2:50 PM – 3:50 PM
Net play, serving (short & high), forecourt movement, and net lift.

PHASE Day 2 | Sunday, 16 November 2025 

Session 4: Skills & Technique (Part 2) | 9:55 AM  – 10:55 AM
Midcourt and rearcourt skills: drives, blocks, clears, dropshots, and smash.

Session 5: Session 5: Group Session Planning & Learn to Win Tactics | 11:15 AM – 12: 15 PM
Plan and deliver group sessions. Basic singles/doubles tactics and decision-making.

Session 6: Learn to Win – Competition & Simplified Rules of Badminton | 1:15 PM – 2:15 PM
Basic rules, scoring, competition formats, and gameplay experience.

Chua Yong Joo

Chua Yong Joo

Assistant Director, High Performance Sport Institute, Sport Singapore

A former national badminton player and chief coach, Yong Joo has devoted his career to advancing sports excellence and coaching. As a BWF Tutor, he contributes to the international badminton coaching community. Currently Team Lead for Performance Coaching at CoachSG, he partners with National Sport Associations to drive coaching strategies and leads Singapore’s Coach Developer initiative. His journey from athlete to coach developer gives him a unique perspective to impact performance sport.

Erica Khoo

Erica Khoo

Development Manager, Badminton World Federation

Currently in her 8th year with the Badminton World Federation and her primary focus is the Shuttle Time programme, which is implemented in 162 countries and has trained over 77,000 teachers, working closely with Member Associations and Continental Confederations. Additionally, she also led the Player Development & Dual Career, Development Communication initiatives, and support other projects working closely with Special Olympics, International Sport School Federation etc. Prior to this role, I was a national badminton player for the Malaysia team in my junior and senior career.

Sahir Edoo is a results-driven sports executive with a passion for growing sports globally and harnessing sport as an agent of change. Currently, as the Head of Development Projects at the Badminton World Federation, he drives global initiatives with a particular focus on global participation through the development of people and innovative strategies. His expertise is cross-dimensional, spanning strategic, executive, and operational fields, built on his success in transforming badminton in Africa as the former Secretary General of the Badminton Confederation Africa (BCA).

AirBadminton Demo At PHASE Asia Pacific

AirBadminton is BWF’s exciting new outdoor format, designed to bring badminton to parks, beaches, playgrounds, and other open spaces.

At PHASE AP, delegates will get the chance to experience AirBadminton firsthand, with specially designed courts and equipment set up on-site. This practical showcase will highlight how AirBadminton can broaden participation and make the sport more accessible worldwide.
