What to Say, How to Hold It: Responding to Suicidal Disclosure
For counsellors, coaches, DSLs, CPOs, nurses, heads, and anyone a student might turn to first.
There’s no “type” of student who discloses suicidal thoughts, and the signs aren’t always loud and clear. The students who seem fine aren’t always fine. This workshop is built for the moment it happens anyway: when a student tells you, plainly or sideways, that they can’t go on. What happens for you?
Drawing on Compassionate Inquiry and 28+ years inside international schools, this session moves past checklists and into practice. Recognize disclosure in its many forms (direct and metaphorical), understand what fear does to you in that moment and how not to let it drive the conversation, and learn to offer presence without an agenda. No one adult carries this alone. This work is so important.
