This workshop introduces Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL) as a purposeful pedagogical approach in Physical Education, with a focus on why it matters in supporting students who struggle to communicate and collaborate during learning. Designed for PE teachers across levels, the session unpacks what IBL looks like in PE through practical classroom examples and guided participant experiences.
Participants will explore how carefully designed tasks, questions, and learning conditions can prompt students to talk, listen, negotiate ideas, and work together meaningfully, rather than rely on teacher-directed instruction. The workshop highlights key strategies teachers can use to scaffold communication and collaboration, even with learners who have limited confidence or skills in these areas.
By the end of the hour, participants will leave with a clearer understanding of IBL in PE and a small set of practical, adaptable strategies they can apply to design lessons that foster greater student engagement, collaboration, and ownership of learning.
