Creating Assessments in the IB can often be overwhelming due to the need to align with specific criteria and rigorous standards, particularly in PHE, where students want to move and be physically active. However, if we take the time to carefully design and create assessments, these tasks can serve as a powerful tool to deepen student understanding and create authentic learning opportunities.
In this presentation, we will explore strategies to design Meaningful, Engaging, and Appropriate PHE Assessments within the context of the IB Middle Years Programme. We will explore how to create assessments that are authentic and student-centered, which allow students to demonstrate their learning in meaningful ways. A key focus will be ensuring that assessments truly capture both conceptual understanding and the development of physical literacy and sport-specific skills.
