Danial Bin Mohd Hasmawi
Danial Hasmawi is the Head Climbing Coach at UWCSEA East Campus, where he leads the Dragons Climbing Team and is responsible for the planning, delivery, and performance of the school’s competitive climbing programme. Before joining UWCSEA, Danial served as Chief Routesetter, Head Coach, and Singapore National Climbing Standard (SNCS) Instructor at a local climbing gym, where he developed and mentored climbers across various levels. A former national youth athlete, he represented Singapore in the ASEAN Youth Championship and the World Youth Championship between the ages of 14 and 17. As a passionate climber and former student-athlete, Danial understands firsthand the challenges of balancing academics, training, and social life. This personal experience drives his dedication to supporting and guiding young athletes in their own journeys, helping them navigate pressures, build resilience, and pursue excellence. He continues to extend the reach of the climbing program by supporting PE climbing modules, where his expertise enhances both the safety and quality of learning. His involvement has helped make climbing more accessible and engaging for all students at UWCSEA. In addition to his coaching role, Danial recently took on an additional position as a Primary School PE Relief Teaching Assistant, where he is able to further expand his impact on the wider student community by promoting fitness and wellbeing, and encouraging healthy, active lifestyles among young people.
