Dr Stuart Evans
Dr Stuart Evans is a Lecturer in Teacher Education, Physical Education, Sport and Movement at La Trobe University (Bundoora campus). He is a trained teacher, biomechanist, and exercise scientist, and teaches movement and sport skills analysis subjects in the Bachelor of Education program across both the Bundoora and Bendigo campuses. His research explores the qualitative analysis of applied health and physical education (HPE) principles and pedagogy, with a particular focus on STEM, fitness, and the integration of Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility (TPSR). He also conducts quantitative research on human movement to enhance function and performance in sports such as triathlon, athletics, ice hockey, cycling, and axe throwing. His methods include field-based video analysis, force measurement, and wearable technology. Through this work, he has validated sensor technology in cycling and supported athletes in improving postural performance by analysing their centre of mass.
