Stella Yap
Ms Stella Yap has diverse interests, from Arts and Music to Sports, where she specialises in swimming, basketball and badminton. Having graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics, her passion for sports led her to pursue the Post Graduate Diploma in Education from the National Institute in Education (NIE) - Specializing in PE & Math. As a strong believer in the power of sports and the arts to enliven, engage, and empower, she strives to connect others through developmental transformations. She believes her lessons should be values-driven, with a meaningful infusion of music, technology, gamification and visuals for her PE classes. She taught PE in a Secondary School for the past 5 years. Supporting her Head Of Department, she co-led the team in building the sports curriculum and re-structured the physical health and fitness curriculum. She was appointed as an Info Communication Technology (ICT) champion and led her PE department in Professional Development learning sessions. Beyond her job scope, Stella also served in the Student Leadership Committee and led the school in various Peer Support initiatives to empower students in becoming caring changemakers who build a safe and inclusive learning environment in school. Stella emerged as a Finalist of the 2021 Outstanding Youth in Education Award (OYEA) which recognises the achievement of young educators who have shown admirable energy and commitment in the development of youth beyond the formal curriculum, inspiring and nurturing their students. Passionate in delivering quality PE lessons, she is currently serving as a committee member in Singapore Physical Education Association (SPEA). Stella has a keen interest in curriculum development, assessment and feedback literacy, affective learning, and technology integration in PE. She looks forward to learning from our dearest PE professionals around the world, seeking to give back to her students and the PE fraternity in every way possible!
