I am currently a School-Based Master Teacher at Woodgrove Secondary School. Prior to my posting to Woodgrove Secondary School, I was a Master Teacher at the Physical Education and Sports Teacher Academy (PESTA), an academy within the Ministry of Education that supports the professional development of PE teachers in Singapore. I was previously a Head of Department for Physical Education at Serangoon Junior College before joining PESTA in 2012. In 2014, I was awarded the MOE Post-Graduate Scholarship to pursue my Master’s Degree in Education at the University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada. I have a keen interest in games teaching pedagogies, particularly Game-Based Approaches. During my studies at UBC, I had the privilege of learning under the late Dr Joy Butler, and subsequently worked closely with Dr Tim Hopper and Dr Steve Mitchell during their appointments as PESTA’s visiting fellows. Dr Butler, Dr Hopper and Dr Mitchell are renowned scholars in the field of Game-Based Approaches. At PESTA, I worked closely with PE teachers to deepen their understanding and competencies in the teaching of games, while continuously learning from their experiences and practices. My areas of interest also include Inventing Games, Teacher Beliefs, and Student Motivation. I am currently a member of the TGfU International Advisory Board, representing Singapore.
