Overview
What does it take to turn a great activity into meaningful learning?
In Primary PE, the answer lies in the design decisions we make: how we organise learning, the questions we ask, the choices we give students, and how we make progress visible.
This practical, face-to-face certification explores how Primary Physical Education can be intentionally organized to develop physical competence alongside deeper thinking, agency and understanding.
You will experience Primary PE learning activities as a participant, unpack the design decisions behind them, and leave with a plan to transfer the ideas to your own context.
Throughout the day, movement stays at the core, while you design learning experiences that help students think, make decisions, take increasing ownership and show meaningful progress.

What you’ll take away
Core Principles
Become a PHASE Certified Primary Physical Educator
To earn certification, participants attend the full-day workshop and complete a post-course application task built on the plan developed in the From Ideas to Action session. You will make one meaningful change to an existing Primary PE unit or learning experience, focusing on Design, Agency or Assessment, and reflect on its impact using evidence from your teaching.
Submissions are due four weeks after the workshop, with feedback provided within four weeks of the due date. We estimate 1–3 hours for development and 1–3 hours for summarising after implementation.
Certified educators can identify as a “PHASE Certified Primary Physical Educator” on their CV and professional materials, and receive a digital badge and email signature graphic.
Prefer to attend without certification? You will receive a certificate of attendance.
