In today’s world, young people often get their health and sex education from unreliable internet sources. Using the National Health Education Standards and the National Sex Education Standards, this workshop will focus on building digital & media literacy skills in health education, with an emphasis on exploring how sexually explicit media impact young people and their views on sex, sexuality, and relationships. Building a foundational model for responding to students’ questions about sexually explicit media, this interactive session will offer teachers a place to self-reflect on their own teaching methods and values to build strategies for inclusive and affirming skills-based comprehensive health and sex education.
