Tired of dance units where students simply recall a series of dance steps? Well, your students (probably) are, too.
Laban’s Movement Framework – body, space, effort, and relationships – is an effective way for students to learn how to dance (Langton, 2013).
In this workshop, participants will learn about the four aspects of Laban’s movement framework and how they can apply these to teaching dance (and other movement activities) in PE.
Participants will:
Know how Laban’s movement framework and how that might look in an elementary PE programme.
Participate in a wide variety of movement tasks that help children learn how to dance.
Reflect on how their PE program can include aspects of Laban’s movement framework across different contexts of PE.
