In this workshop, we use the sport of cricket as the subject matter to teach creativity and discovery through games making. The process of planning learning begins with the ‘logic’ of striking and fielding games, rather than thinking about the technical motor control elements of striking and fielding. You will be involved in a process of game design/games making that you can use with your students or use yourself to develop play with purpose for your sport teaching or coaching.
Learning Outcomes:
- Know that primary rules give a game its play logic
- Know that secondary rules can be modified to develop ‘designer games’ that focus player thinking and shape in-game behavior.
- Experience a sequence of learning through designer games
