In this workshop, you will participate in a learning sequence commencing with the ‘basic’ invasion game logic and progressing through a series of rule modifications to finish at the game of AFL9s. AFL9s is the community recreation non-contact version of Australian football (AFL). The ideas presented in the workshop can be applied to all invasion games as invasion games share common principles of play. Come prepared to be active.
Learning outcomes:
- Know the CHANGE IT model for game experience modification
- Explore where direct instruction (reproduction cluster on the Spectrum of Teaching Styles) and inquiry teaching strategies (production cluster on the Spectrum of Teaching Styles) are used in a model of deliberate play
- Experience a strengths-based educatively purposeful sequence of game-based learning
