Learning Objectives:
- To critically examine assessment rubrics used in Physical Education
- To understand and apply a rubric design framework (reFRAME)
- To identify evidence-based prompts for AI to enhance rubric design
This session draws from David’s research into assessment rubrics designed for use in invasion games at Year Levels 7-10 (ages 13-16) by a population of Australian secondary school PE teachers. The reFRAME approach describes a range of decision-points for purposeful and expansive rubric design. Underpinning the framework, a range of AI prompts are drawn from the broader rubric literature and offered as recommendations for effective rubric design in PE. While the reFRAME approach was conceptualised in the context of assessment of invasion games and sports, the decision-points and AI prompts may be applied to other assessment contexts within and beyond PE. Attendees are encouraged to bring copies of existing assessment rubrics to develop.
