Our roles as teachers should be as facilitators, who guide learning, instead of dictating how things should be done. We want to develop proactive and inquisitive learners who have strong critical thinking skills. The importance of developing a student-centered classroom where students have a voice and where their input is valued is a key part of this process. At the same time, we have to ensure students cover a wide range of topics and develop a variety of skills that fall under the standards and objectives of our curriculum. The question then, is, how do we balance the objectives of curriculum while empowering our students and giving them voice and student agency?
The presentation aims to help answer that question, particularly from a Physical and Health Education context.
