Matt Magowan
Matt is the Elementary School PE Team Lead at UNIS Hanoi, where he is committed to creating inclusive, engaging learning environments that help students develop competence, confidence, and a lifelong enjoyment of movement. His practice is grounded in research and informed by a strong interest in using evidence to enhance teaching, learning, and student outcomes. As an IB Workshop Leader, Matt facilitates professional learning for educators worldwide, with a focus on assessment, inquiry-based teaching, and Approaches to Learning (ATL). He has collaborated with the International Baccalaureate on the development of the PYP pspe Subject Continuum (2025) and the ATL Curriculum Design Tool, supporting schools in embedding ATL skills authentically within teaching and learning. Matt is also a contributing author to Teaching PE in International Schools: Contexts and Strategies from Around the Globe (2026), where he wrote a chapter on implementing Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to create more inclusive and accessible learning experiences. Drawing on experience as a teacher, workshop leader, curriculum developer, and author, Matt brings a practical, evidence-informed perspective to empowering learners and fostering meaningful agency.
