My name is James Jenkins, but all of my students would know me better as Mr Gym. I have been an Elementary School PE teacher for 19 years, all abroad, in five different countries. I am currently working as the Primary School PE Head of Department in Shanghai, China. During these years of experience, I have been professionally motivated to improve my teaching practices and pedagogy, and at this point in my career, I am driven to inspire current and future PE teachers to become the best possible versions of their professional selves. Some areas of pedagogy I am particularly interested include, but are not limited to, behavior management, differentiation, conceptual learning, developing health-related knowledge/concepts, using kinesthetic actions/cues to engage learners, and developing student/class responsibility.
