One look at YOU.FO and you could easily describe it as a hybrid between frisbee and lacrosse. But this innovative and award-winning sports and leisure game has a much bigger story to tell.
It all started with innovator and founder Bas Ruyssenaars, who recalled an idea from his teenage years. Bas loved to play and create his own outdoor games and that’s how he once launched his dog’s rubber ring with a long wooden stick. Playing around Bas discovered he could make the ring fly pretty far.
Fast forward to years later, when Bas in 2012 decided to turn the initial idea into a dynamic and fun sports and leisure game, to create his own innovation, and to bring joy and happiness to the world. Inventor and founder Bas Ruyssenaars gathered a team of industrial designers (e.g. Arnold Jager), a professor aerodynamics and sports professionals (e.g. Giel Bos and Tim Konings) to make his dream come to life.
Since the launch of the concept YOU.FO, as an innovative sports and leisure game based on throwing an aerodynamic ring with specially designed sticks, it has been recognized for its innovative character, winning the Dutch National Sports Innovation Award and the PROFIT European Award for Innovation.
Next to the patented sports product, the official sports game YOU.FO RINGCROSS, developed by Bas Ruyssenaars and Giel Bos, is currently one of the fastest growing sports games worldwide, being already played in 30+ countries all over the world.
With the first World Cup being held in ‘s-Hertogenbosch (the Netherlands) in 2023 (with Japan being first, Canada second and the Netherlands third), and the 2024 World Cup being held in the city center UNESCO World Heritage of Bruges, Belgium (Ireland first, the Netherlands second and Canada third), the sports game is gaining recognition and visibility all over the world.
The upcoming YOU.FO RINGCROSS World Cup’s will be held in Tokyo, Japan in July 2025, and in China (city announced after Tokyo Japan 2025 World Cup) in 2026. So, let’s have fun, try out YOU.FO, and fly along on our success.
