Building an Inclusive Sex Education Program for Secondary School

This presentation will focus on how myself and the other health teacher have created a sex ed program that builds off of each other and ensures our kids have the knowledge to make the most informed decision. From anatomy, puberty and body systems in grade 10, to the age of consent and STI information in grade 12, our program tackles what our kids need to know before heading out into the world on their own. We do a contraception demonstration lab at the end of our units as well which gives the students the most hands on experience they can get. I will touch on how to create a positive and safe environment when teaching this topic as well. This presentation will include group discussions, gorup activities and much more!
