Hosting Memorable Tournaments: A Community Approach

This workshop will offer practical tips about how to leverage support from your entire school community to provide a memorable experience for all attendees at tournaments you host. The topics covered will include: securing administration support, developing staff buy-in, building relationships with parents, long-term planning, tournament branding and media, and ideas for social activities.

Zach Dwyer

MYP PHE & Amp; Athletics Coordinator, Xi’an Liangjiatan International School

Zach Dwyer is a licensed teacher from Toronto, Canada who has been contributing to education-based athletics since 2014. Since moving to Xi’an, China in 2014, he has helped create the Xi’an International Athletics Conference through collaborating with other international and bilingual schools in the city.

In his current role, Zach has worked to successfully establish Xi’an International School (XLIS) as a major contributor to interscholastic athletics both in Xi’an and the ACAMIS (Association of China and Mongolia International Schools) network. Through his efforts, XLIS has gained a reputation for hosting memorable, community-driven athletic tournaments.
