AUSTRALIAN COUNCIL FOR HEALTH, PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND RECREATION INC (ACHPER)

Founded in 1955, ACHPER is Australia’s leading organisation dedicated to advancing movement and wellbeing through health and physical education and recreation across the country. Recently marking its 70th anniversary, ACHPER remains the peak professional body for those working in health and physical education (HPE) and recreation more broadly.
ACHPER’s vision is a world where everyone thrives through movement, adventure, and active recreation — a future where every Australian, regardless of background, ability, or circumstance, can live an active, healthy and fulfilling life. Through education, advocacy, partnership and professional practice, ACHPER works to break down the barriers to movement for all Australians.
Our work is powered by a dedicated team and strengthened by an extraordinary network of volunteers who contribute through advisory groups, working groups, and boards — bringing expertise, energy, and heart to everything we do.
ACHPER connects with a 30 000+ strong network of professionals nationwide and internationally, with reach into thousands of schools, Australian universities, and deep ties across education and sport. This network includes specialist and generalist primary and secondary HPE teachers, academics and tertiary educators, principals, coaches, and education policy and curriculum leaders.
