Rick Baldock
Rick is the current Australian Council for Health Physical Education and Recreation (SA) (ACHPER) Branch Professional Learning Officer. He is also Chair of the Tennis SA Ken McGregor Fund, a past Director on the Board of Tennis SA and Immediate Past President of the Council of Educational Associations South Australia (CEASA now Educators SA). He has been a casual academic teacher at Flinders University and also a Member of Centre for Physical Activity and Nutrition Advisory Group at Deakin University . Rick has retired from the South Australian Department for Education after a distinguished career as a: - Primary & Middle School PE teacher - Primary class teacher - Health & Physical Education (HPE) Curriculum and Policy Officer, Policy and Program Officer - Physical Activity Policy and Program Officer. Rick has extensive experience in Health & Physical Education and physical activity curriculum and policy formation, managing the eat well be active - Primary Schools Project from 2009-2013. Rick has also led a small team in the development of a Physical Education curriculum in the Arabian Gulf State of Qatar in 2008. This work has led to the implementation of a new curriculum as part of the Supreme Education Council’s work to reform the public system of education. Rick has worked for the Australian Sports Commission (now Sport Australia) and co-authored and authored a number of publications including the popular Sport It fundamental sport skill resource and the ACHPER PEP Fitness resources. Rick also works with a number of National Sporting Organisations such as Tennis Australia, Squash Australia, Little Athletics and Netball Australia on the development of programs in schools and clubs Primary. He has presented nationally on various aspects of HPE and sport teaching and learning, including delivering the keynote addresses at various ACHPER state conferences and also the Positive Schools conferences around Australia. Rick was the Editor in Chief of the ACHPER Active and Healthy Journal and is a Life Member of ACHPER.
