Rick is the current Australian Council for Health Physical Education and Recreation (SA) (ACHPER) Branch Professional Learning Officer and a casual academic at Flinders University, Australia. He is a past President of the Council of Educational Associations South Australia (CEASA now Educators SA). Rick has retired from the South Australian Department for Education after a distinguished career as a: • Primary & Middle School PE teacher • Primary class teacher and then • Health & Physical Education (HPE) Curriculum and Policy Officer, Policy and Program Officer • Physical Activity Policy and Program Officer. Rick has extensive experience in HPE and physical activity curriculum and policy formation. Rick has also led a small team in the development of a Physical Education curriculum in the Arabian Gulf State of Qatar leading to the implementation of a new curriculum as part of the Supreme Education Council’s work to reform the public system of education. Rick has worked for Sport Australia and co-authored and authored a number of publications including the popular Sport It Fundamental Movement Skill resource and the ACHPER PEP Fitness resources. He was a co-writer of the Tennis Australia Tennis in Primary Schools and Tennis in Secondary Schools resources. He has presented internationally on various aspects of HPE delivering keynote addresses at various ACHPER state conferences and also the Positive Schools conferences around Australia. Rick is a Life Member of ACHPER.
