Next Step for PHASE

We now have a confirmed location for a PHASE Face to Face conference – it will take place in Thailand 10-12 March 2023.

In light of a face to face conference now scheduled we have thought long and hard about what the role of an online conference is alongside a face-to-face event. We know from our conversations with educators there is a real hunger for getting back together but at the same time, not losing the online connections which have their own unique benefits and merits.

When we started the PHASE online event we scheduled it over the course of one week because we felt we didn’t need to be limited to the constraints of a two day schedule. We now believe the online presence for PHASE can be improved even further. So instead of cramming the conference into one week we plan instead to migrate PHASE to a rolling conference providing the community with a series of regular sessions over the course of the year. We will also make these available via YouTube streaming, Twitter &  Facebook. We hope this will help expand the PHASE Community and help to generate enthusiasm for the upcoming face-to-face event.

Attending individual sessions for PHASE Online Live will be free. It will still be possible to sign up for PHASE Online and pay to get access to all the recordings for the online session recordings

School Pass members will get discounts for the face to face conference.

Two New Themes

This year we are highlighting two new themes: Leadership and DEIJ.

Leadership involves excellent management of Physical Education and Athletics departments as well as leadership throughout the school to promote student fitness and wellness as a core part of a well rounded education.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice (DEIJ) is on the one hand about developing inclusive & equitable practices in schools for students but it is also about modeling by striving for diverse PE Departments and Sports Coaches.

Help PHASE be part of this change by contributing sessions on this important topic. We are striving to make our presenter lineup diverse as possible and invite allies to this movement.. Many members of the PHASE community are international schools and just as we strive to have our school staff better reflect the populations they serve we too believe this is an important tenet for professional learning. We ask for your support in this effort by tapping into your networks to make this event as diverse and inclusive as possible.

Please reach out to committee member Carlos ( if you have any question, comments or ideas for the DEIJ strand.
